FUCHS

THE GOLDEN YEARS ANNIVERSARY PROJECT

On 1 August 2019, the Carl & Emily Fuchs Foundation will be marking 50 years of grantmaking excellence by the Foundation in South Africa. In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, we have introduced a national flagship project, branded "FUCHS - The Golden Years". The project extends over the period 2016 to 2019 and will culminate in the Foundation's Anniversary celebration during August 2019.

Since inception, our grantmaking practice has focused in a number of predetermined strategic areas and hence the national flagship project funding has also been structured into these categories, including:

  • Childcare & Youth Development
  • Health Services
  • Higher Education
  • Technology Development, Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

The Foundation has funded twelve beneficiary organisations as part of the current national flagship project, including both past beneficiaries and "new" applicants. The funding per beneficiary organisation amounted to R 2 250 000 over the project period, paid in tranches that escalated each year. The project also involves a "competition element" - the beneficiary projects have been selected, monitored and assessed by a selection/evaluation panel and the project that is evaluated to have produced the greatest impact over the project period will be awarded the "grand prize", amounting to an additional R1 000 000 in funding during August 2019.
